Location
Local Area
Located on South Snowdon Wharf, a private estate in Porthmadog. Perfectly positioned between the Snowdonia National Park and the Llyn Peninsula. Glaslyn View is just a short walk away from Porthmadog's thriving high street, containing a multitude of independent shops, cafes and pubs.

Within easy reach is Portmeirion. Designed by Sir Clough Williams-Ellis in the early 20th century. The famous Italian inspired village of Portmeirion is a great place to visit and the place to go for fine dining (2.8 miles)
Adventure
Not to be missed is the Ffestiniog and Welsh Highland steam train station, which is just minutes from the door. Voted as the best scenic route in Europe. Watch the steam trains crossing the Cob embankment from the comfort and privacy of the private balcony; or take a trip yourselves! From here you can take a steam train on the world's oldest narrow-gauge railway through the Snowdonia National Park.

If you wish to go back in time and explore the history of the area, then visiting Criccieth Castle (5.5 miles) and Harlech Castle (9.3 miles) would be perfect for you. The popular mountain resort of Beddgelert (8.1 miles) has great places to eat and a path next to the river Glaslyn for an easy riverside walk suitable for everyone. However, if you are feeling adventurous then why not hike up the biggest mountain in Wales Snowdon on the Rhyd Ddu Path (11.7 miles from the property).
Beaches
The Llyn Peninsula boasts many beautiful beaches and are all within easy reaching distance of the property. Dogs are welcome on many of them and a full list of beaches without restrictions is available in our welcome pack.

The closest beaches are beautiful Borth-y-Gest beach which is a lovely easy walk from the property (1.3 miles); you can continue your walk along the coast path here to the popular 2 mile long sandy beach of Black Rock Sands (3.2 miles).

For those travelling with children, you'll find buckets, spades, nets and crabbing lines at the property to make your stay fun! When the tide is out you can climb down (or walk around) to the sand below and adventure across to Ballast Island (requires a little paddling!); go crabbing from the harbour; or just sit and watch the boats bobbing.
Eating Out
Porthmadog and the surrounding area boasts many wonderful places to eat. The Ship/Y Llong is one of the best pubs in Porthmadog and gets busy so book ahead. On the same street is Yr Hen Fecws, also a lovely restaurant. Banc on the high street is an option for finer dining. One of our favourite spots for coffee and cake is the Big Rock Cafe; also a micro-bakery with a fantastic array of freshly baked goods to eat in or take home.

Sea View restaurant in the charming seaside village of Borth Y Gest is walking distance from the property. From here you have wonderful harbour views. For the best fish and chips, you can't beat Chippy Dre in nearby Tremadog, or The Creel, just minutes from the front door; eat in, or take out.
